50 Things to Avoid When You Tweet and My 5 Favorites

Great article over at Webstudio13 about some basic Twitter etiquette rules and tips… 50 of ‘em in fact.
Some of my favorites, that I see violated waaaaaaaaaay too often in the Twittersphere:
- Do not tweet trivial things that no one cares about (such as what you had for breakfast). As of last count, there are 4.6 billion people on Twitter, each tweeting 17 times a day… so, it would be great to see tweets limited to the good stuff.
- Do not tweet nonstop. This gets rather annoying. In fact, I’ve unfollowed quite a few tweeple I personally like and enjoy learning from, but who just drive me blotso with their constant streams. Tell me what’s on your mind, but give me just the good stuff please!
- Don’t make your tweets too long; this makes it harder for someone to retweet your message.
- Don’t retweet something unless you’ve personally checked any links. Way too often I’ll get retweets that include bogus or inane links. Come on, Twitter Pals-O-Mine, help us all out here and do your basic homework before retweeting.
- Do not ignore the power of Twitter add-ons. Personally, I couldn’t imagine life without TweetDeck. You?
So, what would you add to the list? What bugs you the most about Twitter and the folks who use it?
