16 Qualities of the Modern Teacher

What are the qualities of the modern teacher?

Have you ever wondered what the qualities of the modern teacher are? Well, I found a list of 16 of them on Twitter. I watch social media closely and it's my job to share some of the hot topics on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and other outlets that teachers, principals, students, and parents are contributing.

We Are Teachers posted an interesting infographic about the 16 qualities of a modern teacher. You can see that list of 16 different attributes below.

These 16 different ideas break up into a few basic principles. One idea these points stress is having a willingness to try new things. Teachers need to embrace change, move into their students' worlds, and step outside their comfort zones. Another point this infographic stressed is that teachers should allow for mistakes, vulnerability, and general weakness in both their students and themselves. No one can truly improve or learn unless some failure comes along with the successes to learn how to cope with failure and to illustrate the difference between what works and what doesn't. The last major point is that learning should be a collaboration effort between teachers and students. Teachers should learn alongside their students and not be afraid to ask others for help. On the other side, students should take an active role in their learning.

Do you agree with these points? What would you add? How have you worked in improving your skills in any of these areas?
