FreebieManGate?

Oh boy. Well, a tad bit of controversy recently here in FreebieManVille.

I suppose we got all caught up in the excitement about our giveway of a Simple Workshop system, the lecture capture/presentation tool that schools are using for both professional development and integrating technology in the classroom.

We received so many entries from dozens of quality teachers and schools and were, frankly, overwhelmed with your creativity and passion for ways in which you could use Simple Workshop.

Consequently, we went from one freebie to seven. We selected three creative entries ourselves, and then put the other four up for votes and selection - -internally, externally to all readers, externally to a handful of ed tech bloggers and professionals in the field, and a random selection.

We believed we were covering lots of bases and taking this from several angles.

BUT… a couple of the teachers who entered the contest told me that our instructions indicated that the responses were to be limited to one to three sentences.

Then we went back and reviewed the evidence in the video at this post: http://simplek12.com/freebie-man-win-4000-lecture-capturepresentation-system-your-school

And, you know what? They were right. (Don’t ya hate it when that happens?)

Now, when I put my hand over my heart, I must tell you that, while recording the rules in the video, I was thinking “these are just general guidelines, but respond in any way you like,” but I didn’t say that – I said, one to three sentences.

So, we need to do what’s right because…

THE BUCK STOPS WITH FREEBIE MAN.

And right is this: We’ll give away an EIGHTH Simple Workshop to the “best” entry with three sentences or less – as voted by YOU.

Here’s how to vote: Check out all of the entries here: http://simplek12.com/freebie-man-win-4000-lecture-capturepresentation-system-your-school

Then, send me (to my private email – ceo (AT) simplek12.com) an email with your vote. I’ll only be able to accept entries that come from an organizational email address (no gmail, hotmail, or other anonymous services).

Contest for the eighth Simple Workshop video capture/presentation system ends at 5 pm on the 17th of February 2010.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say and how you vote.

Over and out, for now.

This system cannot be functional without a a good strategy behind. I still hope that in the and, the problem will be solved. technology news

You must know that teachers can never enter a contest for their students and school and be limited to only three sentences - LOL!! We all have a written voice beyond measure when it comes to working hard to try to gain items for our schools..so when the 1-3 sentences was recommended, most of us had that little voice inside that said "I can give 1-3 sentences, but I will also give 1-3 paragraphs as well." That's what we teach in education - go above and beyond what is expected - it is called "exceeding the standards" and we, as teachers, are taught that we need to teach our students to exceed the standards or our country will never be able to compete.
So, technically, we all gave 1-3 sentences and all should continue to be in the running. No-one mentioned, 'only 1-3 sentences will be accepted.'
Hows that for making matters more interesting?
