We think that learning spelling should be fun. So we have compiled a few of our favorite fun ways that we like to see when teachers are showing students how to spell words.
Spell with Gel
Everything you need is from the dollar store! Grab a ziploc bag, some cheap hair gel, and a Q-Tip and your students will be spelling champs. A great, fun, and creative way to practice spelling. We found this idea from Hands on As We Grow.
Spell the Beans
You’ve heard of Spill the Beans, now it’s time for Spell the Beans! This fun and inexpensive game is brought to us by I Love That Idea.
Spelling is a-Maze-ing
Take any old maze and turn it into a spelling worksheet. Write out your words in a path to lead students out of the maze and let them follow. We got this idea from Mrs. T’s First Grade Class.
A New Use for Bananagrams
Bananagrams has a new twist, as we learned from Babble.com! Use the letters to help your students practice spelling.
Connect Four for Spelling
Get creative! Look for older games you have laying around and turn them into unique spelling games. We love how The Typical Mom applied this idea.
