4 Fall Activities You and Your Students Will Love

Fall is the time of year when it’s just starting to cool off outside, but it’s not too cold yet. That means it’s the perfect time to get your students involved in outdoor activities. Here are some fall activities you might want to do with your students this season.

1. Field Trip to a Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says fall quite like a trip to a pumpkin patch. Most pumpkin patches will also offer cider, kettle corn, and hayrides. This could be a nice reprieve from the daily grind of the classroom. Once every student has a pumpkin you can either let them carve it or paint it as an alternative. Also check out this pumpkin carving game from ABCya.

2. Make Pinecone Bird Feeders

Let every student collect a pinecone, slather it with peanut butter, and then roll it around in bird seeds. And bingo! It’s a bird feeder! Check out this activity on Pinterest for more instructions and ideas.

3. Leaf Scavenger Hunt

Do a little research on your local flora. Then print out a sheet with different leaves and take your students on an outdoor hike to find them. You could even do something as simple as finding leaves of different colors.

4. Make Dried Apple People

For an activity that is a little different, give every student an apple or have them bring one in from home. Then follow these directions to successfully make a dried apple person. It takes the apple a week or two to completely dry out, but it will give your students something to look forward to each day to see their apple change into a person!
