Curious About Twitter in the Classroom?

Are you using Twitter in the classroom? You'll be amazed at all the different ways teachers have utilized Twitter. I found a list of 25 different ways teachers have used Twitter in the classroom on Twitter (of all places) recently and wanted to share it with you. I watch social media closely and it's my job to share some of the hot topics on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and other outlets that teachers, principals, students, and parents are contributing.

Alex Corbitt recently shared an infographic listing 25 different ways teachers use Twitter on his Twitter account. The infographic came from Daily Genius. Some of the suggestions are specific, like hosting a design competition for a class Twitter account's background while others are broad and could be used in various ways, such as creating lists of Twitter accounts on particular topics or groups. You can check it out below.

According to this infographic, teachers use Twitter to enhance student projects, connect with students and parents, expand their PLN, use it as a research tool, and to keep up with the latest trends in education and other general news. The possibilities are overwhelming. The last point actually warns about that. A common pitfall many teachers fall into when incorporating any technology into the classroom is making the lesson more about the device. app, tool, or service rather than letting the tools enhance the lesson. Once you're aware of that, the possibilities are endless.

How have you used Twitter in your classroom? Have you done any of the suggestions on the infographic or did you do something not listed?
