School Supplies Drive Now in Its Third Year at SimpleK12.com

From July 11, 2016 through August 4, 2016, we completed our Third Annual SimpleK12 School Supply Drive, where we use coupons and other discounting methods to buy as many school supplies as we can for local schools.

Led by SimpleK12's Chief Financial Officer, Linda O'Reilly, each week during the drive, we received advance information on the upcoming weekly sales for the major school supply vendors including Staples, Office Max/Office Depot, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart.  Several of our sales savvy employees participated in the drive and did their best to shop the best sales that could be found and made sure they got to the best deals to be had before the supplies disappeared.

school suppliesMany of us took advantage of the penny deals offered each week at Office Max/Office Depot  (offering items that normally can be purchased for as much as $3.99 at regular prices) and the “Weekly School Steals” at Staples where items were sold for anywhere from $.25 to  $.75 each that normally retail for as much as $3.00 per item.

We also took advantage of product rebates that reduced the cost of items from as much as $7.99 each down to $.01!

We used $299 to purchase over $1,471 of school supplies, representing a pretax savings rate of a whopping 81 percent.

In total, we purchased 686 items, and paid an average of 44 cents on items costing over $2 each.  (Oh, and we had a blast doing this, too!)
