Workshop Description:
Lumio is a freemium digital learning tool that transforms static lessons into game-based activities, formative assessments, and student collaboration.
Join Dr. Smantha Fecich as she takes you on a guided tour of the basic elements of Lumio. She will share where to access a treasure trove of done-for-you templates and resources, as well as demonstrate how to build interactive games for early learners that can be played on an interactive whiteboard or independently.
Participants will also have an opportunity to create their own learning materials that they can immediately use with their students.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the variety of teaching resources offered in Lumio and discuss how to best utilize them in the classroom to support early learners.
- Describe where to access customizable digital resources in Lumio to differentiate instruction for early learners.
- Create a lesson for early learners using Lumio where students can interact within the classroom, remotely, or on their own time.
Special Technology Instructions: Participants will need access to a computer or laptop, a non-school, personal Google account, and a free Lumio account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment: Participants will be assessed through their responses to discussion prompts to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
