Session Description:
As educators, we provide service to our communities within our classrooms by encouraging and promoting service to others with our students. However, we can also provide service outside of our schools by volunteering in the communities in which we teach. Join Michelle Dragalin for this time-saving, to the point session as she shares the benefits of community involvement and and how teachers can extend their influence beyond the four walls of their classrooms. Participants will also walk away with a list of organizations where they can volunteer their time to help strengthen the relationship between the school and community that will pay dividends for themselves and their students.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the benefits of community involvement and and how educators can extend their influence beyond the walls of their classrooms.
- Discover organizations where educators can volunteer their time to help strengthen the relationship between the school and community that will pay dividends for themselves and their students.
Assessment:
Participants will join a collaborative backchannel chat and discuss community involvement to demonstrate their understanding of the session objectives and reflect on their learning.
