Session Description:

Whether you are considering a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) or a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) as a proactive intervention or fulfilling a district requirement after a manifestation determination meeting, it is important to know how to put an effective plan into place. Join Ryan Jeffery for this time-saving, to the point session as he outlines, step-by-step, the procedure for implementing tier three interventions that are backed by the science of applied behavior analysis. You will also discover how to interpret the reasons behind challenging behaviors and identify the primary behavior of concern when writing a functional behavior assessment.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Identify when to address a behavior through a behavior plan, behavior goal, or functional behavior assessment.
  • Interpret the reasons behind challenging behaviors and identify the primary behavior of concern when writing a functional behavior assessment.
  • List the steps required to write an effective functional behavior assessment and a behavior intervention plan.
  • Collect and analyze data to determine if a behavior plan is working for the student or needs to be adapted.

Assessment:

Participants will join a collaborative backchannel chat and discuss behavior intervention plans to demonstrate their understanding of the session objectives and reflect on their learning.
