Session Description:
How a school plans for and responds to a crisis can be crucial to determining the outcome of that situation. Knowing what to do and how to respond can help faculty and staff react consistently, quickly, and with the least amount of confusion and panic – all of which affords the greatest chance for a positive outcome. In part one of this two-part series, join Brent Maguire as he discusses the key components of crises response, along with the functions and various facets of each. You will also learn what your school should do immediately when responding to a crisis, how to implement a crisis plan, and suggestions for putting that plan into practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the key components of crises response, along with the functions and various facets of each.
  • Explain what your school should do immediately when responding to a crisis.
  • Describe how to implement a crisis plan and how to put that plan into practice.

Assessment: Participants will join a collaborative backchannel chat and discuss how to implement a crisis plan to demonstrate their understanding of the session objectives and reflect on their learning.
