Do you teach a struggling reader or have multiple struggling readers in your classroom? The reasons why students struggle with reading are as varied as the students themselves. Join Melissa Mann as she shares the importance of keeping the whole child in mind when working with struggling readers. You will also learn how to identify specific areas in which reading challenges may exist for your students.

Melissa Mann is a special education teacher with the Madison County School System. She has taught both self-contained and collaborative students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Objectives

  • Identify specific areas in which reading challenges may exist and select at least one strategy or intervention per area to implement in the classroom and utilize with struggling readers.
