Workshop description: Assessment plays a key role in the process of learning by enabling instructors to measure the effectiveness of their teaching and linking student performance to specific learning objectives. Join Dr. Samantha Fecich as she shares strategies to help beginning teachers evaluate different types of assessments and incorporate technology that will motivate students and give them more control over their learning. Participants will also have an opportunity to access done-for-you templates and resources to design an assessment to determine what students learned, how well they learned it, and where they struggled.

Dr. Samantha Fecich teaches preservice teachers (future teachers) at Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She has the honor and the pleasure of working with them in their courses related to educational technology and special education.
Objectives
- Evaluate different types of assessments and explain the importance of aligning instruction, learning objectives, and assessment.
- Explore ways to incorporate technology into assessment that will motivate students and give them more control over their learning.
Special Technology Instructions
Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment
Participants will use the templates and resources provided to design an assessment for the upcoming school year to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
