Join Chrissy Romano-Arrabito for this hands-on, interactive workshop as she shares the benefits of sketch noting in the classroom. She will discuss how to introduce the concept of visual notetaking to your students, how to get started with sketch noting, and creative ways to infuse sketch noting in the K-12 classroom. Participants will also walk away with a set of resources that can be modified for use in any grade level or subject area.

Chrissy Romano-Arrabito is currently a first-grade teacher at Nellie K. Parker Elementary School in Hackensack, New Jersey and she has over 30 years of experience working with elementary and middle school students. Chrissy is dedicated to teaching the whole child, supporting innovation in classrooms, and striving to provide authentic learning experiences for all her students.

Objectives

  • Explore how to introduce the concept of visual notetaking to your students, how to get started with sketch noting, and creative ways to infuse sketch noting in the K-12 classroom.

  • Discover how to incorporate doodling and sketch noting as a means of alternative assessment.

Special Technology Instructions

Participants will need access to an internet device, a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Assessment

Participants will have collaboration and sharing opportunities throughout the workshop to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
