Teach Resilience Using These 10 Phrases

Want to teach resilience in your classroom? Or have a few students (or even fellow teachers) who could use a little attention? Then you'll love the latest infographic I found on Twitter. I watch social media closely and it's my job to share some of the hot topics on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and other outlets that teachers, principals, students, and parents are contributing.

More likely than not, most people won't get something right the first time. Sometimes, they don't get it right the second, third, fourth, or many times after that too. This is why resilience is an essential skill students have to learn. Instead of letting failure or mistakes seem like the end, we can help push students forward past failure and into success by teaching resilience.

We Are Teachers posted an infographic from Kidspot on their Twitter feed called the “10 best phrases to teach resilience to your kids.” This infographic includes 10 different strategies you can use to make students more resilient including goals like “putting things in perspective,” “offering hope,” and “containing perfectionism and anxiety.” It also provides a phrase you can say that reaches that goal, such as “don't let this spoil everything” for “containing perfectionism and anxiety.” You can see the post below and a large version of the infographic here.

What other phrases would you include? Have you ever used these strategies? Which ones work the best? Or does it depend on the student and situation more than the strategy?
