Responding to an emergency can be an overwhelming responsibility for teachers, and this is especially true when in a classroom surrounded by students. Join John Roche for this timesaving, to the point session as he provide tips and suggestions for controlling your classroom when emergencies happen, discuss strategies for handling the effects of trauma, and provide resources that are available for teachers to learn more. You never know when an emergency may strike, but being prepared can make all the difference. Recall the importance of maintaining control and composure during emergency situations in the classroom. Understand the impact of trauma on students and educators and how it can affect classroom dynamics. Apply strategies for managing trauma and maintaining a supportive environment in response to emergencies. Analyze available resources and determine their relevance and usefulness in preparing for and responding to emergencies. Evaluate personal preparedness levels and identify areas for improvement in handling emergencies in the classroom. Develop an emergency response plan tailored to the specific needs of one's classroom environment, integrating tips, strategies, and available resources for effective management of emergencies.
